Systems thinking
- The idea of feedback is very important within cybernetics and control theory
- It is part of a larger process of systems thinking that enables us to map out the workings of more complex systems.
- In order to grasp feedback we must imagine that a system is aware of/part of particular processes or values.
- In early systems thinking we visualised systems as black boxes containing largely unknown parts.
- We reduced the black box's awareness to pathways of flow showing what went IN and what came OUT.
- Of course, awareness (see consciousness) cannot really be piped like fluids, or electrical currents.
