The Incompleteness Theorem
This glittering evening at the Brookmill offers live music, art and fun. Some songs will be performed by songwriters famed for their session work. Some are celebrated for producing the music of others (turning them into household names). There will also be more arty stuff (e.g. playful, experimental art and music referencing popular culture and film) all spliced together with a touch of comedy. Whether your preference is art, pop, rock, or quirky comedy you'll love this show.

Thank You Art!
The evening is a thankyou to British Arts Schools. We are gatecrashing the Deptford X weekend and will spotlight artists who write, produce music or perform comedy. But these guys arrived there via ART. We know that Britain is sagging under the weight of its irony, irreverence, and naughtiness. So why don't we thank our Art schools for turning these base elements into gold?
You'll know this one
Suggs once referred to Clive Langer as "the eighth member of Madness". Clive will perform Shipbuilding - a song he co-wrote with Elvis Costello. When he was at Liverpool Art School he co-founded that quintessential 'art school' band Deaf School, eventually enabling others to reach international prominence.
A diversity of talents
Three fellow members of Deaf School will also stand up and do a turn. Popular sax soloist, song writer Ian Ritchie is also a producer who has performed and worked with legends such as Roger Waters, Gary Numan and Laurie Anderson. Our songwriter and bass player Steve Lindsey (Avo) made Top of The Pops with his band The Planets. As a producer and music publisher he has worked with luminaries such as Massive Attack, Pulp and U2.
Improvisatory traditions
Paul Taylor has also worked alongside some of the best in jazz, pop and classical music. He is a freelance musician, author and poet who uniquely combines solo trombone and poetry as what he calls, perhaps unsurprisingly, trombone poetry. Having studied graphic design, Leila Ziu became an artist who performs, creates sounds and makes films. Like many artists Hollor is hard to classify as either a visual artist or a music composer who assembles and uses electronic circuits with which to improvise.
WARNING
Inspired by film, cult TV, performance, drag and music John Lee Bird makes dolls resembling celebrities and other horror film low-life. Speaking of which, fumbling keyboard player and pedant The Rev Max Ripple has been a member of Deaf School for more than half a century. His learned remarks on The Incompleteness Theorem are likely to suck most of the fun out of the air. (PLEASE NOTE: some sermons may include vicarious content).
A Dunn Deal
As an artist Alan Dunn often works with sound and popular music. If you bring along an unwanted copy of Paul Young’s No Parlez LP on vinyl he will exchange it for a first edition copy of ZERO PLAN, the zine dedicated to his collecting of the LP (356 copies to date). The issue includes an interview with Rutherford Change, the artist collecting the Beatles’ White Album. It also comes with a free beermat.
- Alan's project has been kindly supported by foreign investment.
