Synergy from reconciliation
After the 1994 Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi a reconciliation process was initiated by CARSA that included a Cow for Peace intervention. They distributed 390 cows, each to a pair of families from each side of the conflict. So far, 250 grown-up calves have been given to former perpetrators by their genocide survivors as a sign of forgiveness.
