Updates on previous meetings Steering Group on 19th May and informal chat with Les

Matters of Report:

  1. Hugo Burge Foundation funding bid (see notes) to be judged in October/November 2026
  2. Fund raising gig for our project currently being organised for Friday 27th November 2026 at the Brookmill Pub SE8
  3. We acquired domain names school-of-co-creation.co.uk and school-of-co-creation.com
    • the choice of name has implications for our project's direction - what do we think?
  4. John working on a primer course for co-creative team working (please take a look).
    • John to meet on 10th September with a South London community who needs team-related help.
  5. Hypha Studios Open Call for free space in Sevenoaks.
    • Must be art-related (see our website)
    • Requires some public-facing talks/workshops etc.

Informal Presentations

  1. 3 minute 'thumbnail visions' to guide our journey
    • Dilys - what might educators/activists learn from setting up the first Centre for Sustainable Fashion?
    • Paul - re-envisioning the Art School
    • Les - Joining the dots:
      • i) 1 million NEETS
      • ii) LETTS community bonding
      • iii) local permaculture initiatives (e.g. food growing etc.)
      • iv) New approaches to learning
    • Francesco - applying what know about working with marginalised learners: e.g. positionality, shifting identities, lived experience, empathy and reciprocity, safe and brave spaces, ethics of care, self-care, transformational change, power dynamics, localism, activism, legacies.
    • Jonny - what we can learn from Creative Commons / Open Source initiatives
      • Picked Tiki for attainable-utopias.org (2003)
      • Found it was Open Source so started contributing back (around 2004)
      • Still there and on the board of directors
      • It's self regulating and organising and owned by the contributors
    • John - switching from summative to synergistic reasoning (transdisciplinary / co-creative learning in local teams)
