In 1963, the engineer and visionary Richard Buckminster Fuller argued that we can choose to embrace synergistic lifestyles or to give in to the forces of extinction? Today, advertisers taunt us with images of blameless leisure and fun. They ask us why we live like hermits when all our friends are jetting off for cheap breaks in exotic places? John argues that local communities can change the system simply by imagining better ways to live. The good news is that we still have a billion years of free solar energy left!
