Education re-imagined

1. In an ideal education system, universities would see their purpose as helping us adapt to our shared habitat.
2. The ultimate purpose of universities would be to cultivate a net, global synergy-of-synergies.
3. In this new paradigm universities would resemble living creatures rather than factories.
   • (i.e. in other words they would be more autopoietic and less allopoietic)

Ecologically attuned

1. Universities would become altruistic facilitators of learning rather than paid arbiters of competence.
2. They would work towards our planetary survival by brokering reciprocal learning partnerships.
3. Learning would be seen as a by-product of helping others to create a more convivial world.

Radically learner-centred

1. Treating individual learners as exceptional individuals would enable them to know what they like.
2. Encouraging greater self-awareness would provide a basis for attending to the needs of others.
3. Bespoke education for all would mean curricular planning is creative, chaotic, or redundant.
4. Specialist teachers would become animators and catalysts within a team learning process.
5. Fostering personal curiosity creative and imaginatively would encourage autodidacticism.

Playful purposive

1. By welcoming play would encourage new ways to learn how to learn.
2. By understanding why different people think differently, they would learn how to collaborate.
3. By become more able to survive in the job market.
