One White Bit
One White Bit Noun Dice 1732183

  1. We tend to assume that luck is something beyond our control.
  2. But Wiseman (2003) researched 'lucky people' and found that we all shape our fortune
  3. (OK - we can't shape Nature, or Fate). But he found that:
    • a) 'Lucky' individuals are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities
    • b) 'Lucky' individuals listen to their intuition
    • c) 'Lucky' individuals create self-fulfilling prophecies via positive expectations
    • d) 'Lucky' individuals adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good

Based on Wiseman's Conclusions:
  • a) Opportunity Finding
  • b) Follow your Gut Feelings
    • Relaxing and being in a good mood seems to attract luck. (Duong & Ohtsuka, 2000).
    • train yourself to listen to your gut instincts
  • c) Expect the Best
    • This works as a positive feedback loop
    • (i.e. pessimists attend fewer job interviews, so prove themselves right)
    • (i.e. optimists may know the chances are slim but they attend anyway)
  • d) Find New Opportunities in Bad News
